Actually, originally Moscow metro was named after Lazar Kaganovich. They renamed the metro for Lenin in 1955 and it still bears his name.

the photos are wonderful! I find it hard to believe the sheer size of those stations.

I thought photography in some of them is not 'approved', or is that an urban myth?

I suppose the question is, just *who* or *what* would replace these?

yes, photography was forbidden in the metro some time ago, now we can take pictures
it's still not allowed to use a professional camera there

I would let them leave metro station without changing and replacing )
